Bisca buys Ireland's East Coast Bakehouse

Danish manufacturer Bisca has acquired East Coast Bakehouse, an Irish bakery and biscuit producer based in Drogheda, County Louth. The deal became effective on 1 May 2026, with financial terms undisclosed. Bisca will operate East Coast Bakehouse as a standalone subsidiary within its international business.

East Coast Bakehouse was founded in 2016 and produces its own brands, The Bakehouse and The Home of Irish Biscuits, alongside private label products for major retailers including Tesco, Asda, and Lidl across the UK and Ireland. The company exports to 15 markets and operates a single manufacturing facility in Drogheda near Dublin.

Bisca, owned by Danish private-equity firm Erhvervsinvest since 2024, brings established operations in the Nordics and Northern Europe. The combined company will have a stronger geographic footprint spanning Ireland, the UK, Northern Europe, and the Nordics. Kristian Walsøe, Bisca's CEO, said the acquisition creates a modern production setup that the group can build upon. East Coast Bakehouse will retain its Drogheda facility, with Bisca-Erhvervsinvest committing new investment to fund and accelerate future growth.
