The terms you agree to when you read us

This page sets out how you can use The Consumer Daily and our content, what the content is and is not, and the limits of our responsibility. Plain language, no boilerplate.

Agreeing to these terms

By reading The Consumer Daily, signing up for our newsletter, or otherwise using this site, you agree to the terms on this page. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to everyone who visits, whether or not you have given us your email.

Who runs the site

The Consumer Daily is an independent commercial-intelligence publication for senior practitioners in consumer goods and consumer health. It is published by Effekt Group Oy, a private limited company registered in Finland. When these terms say “we”, “us”, or “our”, they mean Effekt Group Oy. You can reach us at hello@theconsumerdaily.co.

Using the site

You are welcome to read our pages, share links to them, and quote short passages in your own work as long as you credit The Consumer Daily and link back to the page you took them from. You can use what you read here for your own work, including inside the company you work for.

There are a few things we ask you not to do:

  • copy or republish whole articles, or large parts of them, on another site or in another product
  • resell our content, or pass it off as your own
  • scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the site with automated tools in a way that loads our servers or copies content at scale
  • use the content to train a machine-learning model without our written permission
  • frame the site, or present it in a way that hides where it came from or suggests we endorse you
  • try to break, probe, or get around the security of the site

Our content and who owns it

The articles, analysis, frameworks, charts, and design on this site belong to Effekt Group Oy, or are used with permission. The Consumer Daily name and logo are ours. Nothing on this page gives you ownership of any of it.

We cite and link to other people's work throughout the site. Those sources, and the company and brand names we write about, belong to their respective owners. We name them to report on them, not to claim any connection to them.

Information, not professional advice

The Consumer Daily is a publication. What you read here is general commercial information and our own commentary. It is not investment advice, legal advice, financial advice, or specific business advice for your situation, and you should not treat it that way.

We work hard to get the facts right and we cite our sources so you can check them, which you can read more about on our editorial standards page. Even so, before you make a commercial decision, do your own checks and, where it matters, take proper professional advice. Any action you take based on what you read here is your own decision.

Accuracy and availability

We publish the site on an “as is” basis. We aim for accuracy and we correct mistakes when we find them, but we cannot promise that every page is complete, current, or free of errors. The consumer goods world moves quickly, and a figure that was right when we published can date.

We may change, add, or remove content at any time, and the site can be offline for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not promise it will always be available.

Links to other sites

We link to other websites, including the sources behind our reporting and the companies we cover. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or how they handle your data. A link is not an endorsement. When you follow a link away from The Consumer Daily, the other site's own terms and privacy policy apply.

Newsletter

Signing up for our newsletter is optional and free. We confirm your address before we add you, and every issue has an unsubscribe link, so you can leave whenever you want. How we handle your email is covered in our privacy policy.

Our responsibility to you

To the extent the law allows, Effekt Group Oy is not liable for any loss you suffer from using the site or from relying on what you read here. That includes lost profit, lost business, or any indirect loss that follows from a decision you made based on our content.

Nothing in these terms limits anything that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights your local law gives you, and nothing here takes those away.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add a new feature or when the law changes. When we do, we update this page and change the date below. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If a dispute arises that we cannot settle between us, it will be handled by the courts of Finland. If you are a consumer, this does not remove your right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.

Contact

If you have a question about these terms, email hello@theconsumerdaily.co. We aim to respond within five working days.
