T&G Global to sell NZ and Pacific produce units

T&G Global is in advanced talks to sell its fresh produce operations in New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific as part of a strategic shift toward higher-margin, IP-driven fruit businesses.

The Turner family, who founded the company, would acquire T&G's New Zealand fresh produce unit, which includes tomato, berry, citrus and stone fruit growing operations, along with wholesale market networks and export and transport businesses. Foodservice wholesaler Bidfood would buy the Fijian and Pacific export and wholesale distribution operations. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The company is pursuing the sales to focus on what Chief Executive Gareth Edgecombe called "a global Apples and IP-led business, focused on maximising our scalable intellectual property advantage". Apples already drive the bulk of T&G's earnings. In 2025, the apple division generated NZ$1bn in revenue, up 22 percent year on year, and accounted for 67 percent of total group revenue with operating profit of NZ$74.7m.

T&G has invested eight years building an integrated apple platform spanning protected varieties, orchards and grower partnerships across more than 11 countries. Its premium apple brands, Joli and Envy, are grown in more than 13 countries and sold in over 55 markets. Jazz apples are grown in more than 11 countries and sold in more than 50 markets.

The company intends to retain Australian berry operations and move them into VentureFruit, its varieties licensing division, to align with its global berries strategy. The deals remain contingent on signed agreements and customary conditions. T&G said it would disclose the sale price and key terms once contracts are completed.
