GEN Restaurant Group has launched a consumer packaged goods division with four premium ready-to-cook Korean BBQ meats now available at all 169 Stater Brothers Markets across Southern California. The products are Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, Pork Bulgogi, and Beef Short Ribs, each fully marinated using ingredients including garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and gochujang.
David Kim, CEO of GEN, said the products are "identical to our restaurant meats" and positioned as authentic Korean BBQ rather than Korean-inspired. He noted the retail launch reflects broader consumer demand: "Korean BBQ is no longer niche—it has become a staple nationwide."
GEN operates 59 company-owned restaurant locations where customers grill meats at table-embedded grills. The chain was founded in 2011 by two Korean immigrants in Los Angeles. Stater Brothers, established in 1936, is one of the largest privately owned supermarket chains in Southern California with approximately 4 to 4.7 billion dollars in annual sales and serves millions of customers across nearly 169 locations. The meats are displayed in the fresh meat section and designed to cook in minutes for everyday meals or gatherings.
