Applied Nutrition has acquired the majority of the assets of US-based sports nutrition manufacturer Nutrablend Group for $16 million in cash. The deal, announced on 1 June, includes a six-acre production and logistics facility in Buffalo, New York, along with Nutrablend's two in-house supplement brands, Basic Supplements and GR8 Lifestyle.
The Buffalo facility and capacity
The Buffalo site is a fully fitted-out manufacturing operation with five powder filling lines and three stick-pack filling machines, plus inventory valued at around $5 million. Applied Nutrition expects the facility to deliver up to $300 million in annual production capacity for the US market, supporting the company's AN and ABE product ranges.
Cost and supply-chain gains
The acquisition is designed to cut freight, logistics, and import duty costs in North America. It also promises greater operational and supply-chain resilience by reducing reliance on cross-border shipping. Applied Nutrition plans to move powder manufacturing from its UK base and US co-manufacturers to Buffalo, which will free up UK manufacturing capacity for other uses.
Integration and staffing
The deal brings around 100 Nutrablend employees into Applied Nutrition, including the management team, in-house R&D, and design staff. The Basic and GR8 brands will operate under the AN Supps business following the acquisition. The white-label manufacturing arm will trade as AN Labz.
Financial outlook
Applied Nutrition expects the transaction to be earnings-enhancing in its 2027 financial year, contributing at least an extra $30 million in revenue at a high single-digit EBITDA margin. Roughly 65 percent of that revenue is projected to come from white-label manufacturing.
The company also raised its guidance for the financial year ending 31 July, projecting annual revenue of about £148 million excluding any Nutrablend contribution, a figure the board said is ahead of current consensus market expectations.
Mondelez licensing agreement
Alongside the Nutrablend deal, Applied Nutrition announced a licensing agreement with Mondelez International covering sports-nutrition products sold in the US and Canada. These products will be co-branded under the AN Supps, Sour Patch Kids, and Swedish Fish brands, with availability starting in August. The products will initially be stocked in 2,200 Walmart and 1,300 GNC stores.
